If you like to buy regional and fresh produce, you should definitely visit the weekly market in Nordenham. It takes place on Tuesdays and Fridays on Nordenham's market square. Farmers and traders from the surrounding area offer seasonal fruit and vegetables, cheese, fish and meat of the highest quality – often directly from the producer.

A special insider tip is the farm shop ‘Hof zur alten Ziegelei’ in the centre of Blexen. Here you can buy fresh meat, cheese and other products directly from the farmer every Saturday between 10:00 and 12:00 – a real piece of North Sea homeland to take home with you.

For gourmets, it is worth making a detour to Fedderwardersiel to Micha's smoked fish stall or to the fish markets in Bremerhaven. There you can get freshly caught fish, crabs and specialities from the North Sea – perfect for preparing a genuine North German dinner in your holiday home.

Just a short ferry ride across the Weser from Blexen lies the seaside town of Bremerhaven – ideal for a shopping spree right by the water. We particularly recommend the MOIN Outlet Bremerhaven, located directly at the Havenwelten. Here you will find a modern mix of brand stores, maritime shops and small cafés – all in close proximity to the Klimahaus and with a view of the ships in the harbour. If you still feel like it afterwards, you can stroll along the promenade or end the day in one of the restaurants by the water.

Oldenburg – charming and lively

Less than an hour away, Oldenburg city centre awaits you with one of the most beautiful pedestrian zones in northern Germany. Here, historic architecture meets modern boutiques, cosy cafés and unique concept stores. A stroll through Haarenstraße, Schlossplatz or the Cappuvino district is worthwhile at any time of year.

Bremen – metropolitan and diverse​

In about an hour, you can also reach the Hanseatic city of Bremen – perfect for a long day of shopping.
